Tetra Semiconductors Introduces HDMI 2.1 Chipset

Tetra Semiconductors Ltd., Zurich, Switzerland is pleased to announce the start of production of its TS0 transceiver chipset for HDMI 2.1 applications. The chipset combines outstanding performance with minimal power consumption, enabling the assembly of very cost competitive HDMI 2.1 AOCs thanks to the integrated TDMS terminations.

Tetra Semiconductors’ transceiver chipset includes a 1345 x 1345 um sized chip with 4-channel VCSEL Drivers as well as a chip of the same size containing 4-channel TIAs. TS0-based HDMI 2.1 AOC designs provide a best-in-class power consumption of <0.5 W including both sides of the cable. Additionally, the chipset offers the complete functionality required in 10/40 Gb datacom applications.

TST0HDMI

The Tetra Semiconductors TST0HDMI VCSEL driver is a 4-channel, monolithic SiGe BiCMOS integrated circuit intended to provide independent control of 4-channel common cathode VCSEL apertures with programmable bias current, modulation amplitude, and waveform control. With flexible CML / TMDS compatible inputs combined with the integration of equalization in each channel, the TST0HDMI forms the basis of a complete, compact, power-efficient, parallel optical data communication transmitter.

TSR0HDMI

The Tetra Semiconductors TSR0HDMI receiver is a 4-channel, monolithic SiGe BiCMOS integrated circuit intended to accept photocurrent from multichannel isolated aperture photo-diode arrays and convert it into a robust standard differential voltage signal. With the integration of high-sensitivity transimpedance amplifiers (TIAs), a high-gain limiting amplifier chain (LA), and common mode logic (CML/TMDS-compatible) output drivers in each channel, the Tetra Semiconductors TSR0HDMI forms the basis of a complete, compact, power-efficient, parallel optical data communication receiver.
